Do You Remember Your First Time?

Snow plow. Pizza slice. Wedge. We have all been there at some point in time. Heck, maybe some of us are still there. Either way learning to ski and snowboard is a magical time. There are so many milestones, so many new things to learn, so much to worry about. When will I be able to go fast? Can I stop fast enough? Should I turn before or after that mogul? Should I take my pole straps off before or after I get on the lift? Can I keep my snowboard binding on until I get on the lift? When will I get to start skiing with poles? What if the person sitting next to me wrecks while getting off the lift? What if I wreck getting off the lift?

These are questions that once ran through our heads non-stop. But now skiing or snowboarding has become so second nature that we forget where we came from and the all the little things we used to worry about. Now all we do is wonder where the good snow is and worry if someone else knows about your secret powder stash.

It's a good idea to stop and reflect on where we've come from and how much we learned. It was just as much fun back then as it is now. Here's a little video that Whistler-Blackcomb put together to help us all remember our first time.
