When I was in second grade I remember getting sent out of class into the hallway for getting into a fight with another little boy in the class. The other little boy was also sent out into the hallway. The teacher told us we had to 'make up' before we could come back into class. It was in the hallway that I learned that this other little boy, who would become one of my best friends and still is, liked to ski. We were around 8.
In 4th grade this same little guy and I, now 10, held a spinning contest at lunch. It was winter time, there was snow on the grass and we figured this was as close as we could get to skiing while at school. The goal was to run and jump off a sidewalk that had a drop off on one side while spinning to see who spun the best and who could go the furthest. Of course, he and I tied for first place. We were also the judges.
Meet Kelly Sildaru. She's 10, or at least she'll be 10 in another month or so. I'm pretty sure she would have won our little lunch time contest.
