With volume 1, issue 1, arriving in my mailbox last week, I figured the readers of geargenius.com needed an inside scoop. Let's get this part out of the way up front. Kronicle is not a gangster driven mag with lots of not-so-subtle "kron" innuendos trying to look cool. Whew. Kronicle is an exclusively backcountry snowboarding magazine published by Height of Land publications, producers of ever awesome and legit Alpinist, Backcountry and Telemark skier magazines. Kronicle takes a very serious look into the growing lifestyle of backcountry snowboarding with high quality printing, professional photography, and stories sure to inspire and educate. Editor in chief Mike Horn will make sure the content stays top notch while photo editor Seth Lightcap will keep the pics drool worthy.
Kronicle embraces various forms of backcountry snowboarding, from snowmobile accessed goods, major self-supported splitboard excursions to the here-to-stay, powsurf or snow surf, bindingless-board revolution. While we all wish there could be a magazine sans ads, the reality is they are necessary and Kronicle capitalizes on displaying relevant ads that really raise the stokometer gear wise. Even if you're a resort junkie, check it out and get a little closer to becoming that backcountry bad-ass you want to be.
