Travis Rice has changed snowboarding. He's single handedly taken snowboarding to a level that many didn't think possible. And now he's changing snowboard contests. Tired of typical slope style contests, Travis decided it was up to him to find a way of combining slope style and big mountain riding. He's done just that with the Red Bull Super Natural snowboard contest. An invitation only contest with some of the best riders in the world.
To make the course unlike anything anyone had ever seen he took a 45 degree natural slope at Baldface Lodge near Nelson, British Columbia and made it a little unnatural. During the summer himself and a ten man crew took to the hill armed with chainsaws and a helicopter and began tweaking the slope until it was the perfect play ground. Once the snow fell they then incorported typical terrain park features into what would become the ultimate super slope style course.
The contest was held this past weekend and footage has been showing up online and getting pulled as fast as it appears. We've embedded a vimeo clip below, hopefully by the time you read this it will still be available. If not, you'll just have to wait until March 31st when it airs on NBC.
Wondering who won? The one and only Travis Rice of course.
