Ausangate Medium Weight Ribbed Hiking Socks Review

Ausangate Medium Weight Ribber Hiking Socks

According to Wikipedia the alpaca (Vicugna pacos) is a domesticated species of South American camelid. It resembles a small llama in appearance...Alpacas are considerably smaller than llamas, and unlike llamas, they were not bred to be beasts of burden, but were bred specifically for their fiber. Alpaca fiber is used for making knitted and woven items, similar to wool. These items include blankets, sweaters, hats, gloves, scarves, a wide variety of textiles and ponchos in South America, and sweaters, coats and SOCKS......*

This super fiber gifted to us from the Alpaca is Alpacor. Leave it up to nature to come up with a fiber that is soft, moisture wicking, hypoallergenic, has excellent thermal transfer and is naturally odor free. All of this from an animal that could easily take care of the lawn duty in your backyard.

With a spec sheet that reads like that it's no wonder that Ausangate used Alpacor as the main fiber (70%) in their Medium Weight Ribbed Hiking Socks. (They also threw in 30% nylon to help with durability.)

The Medium Weight Ribbed Hiking Sock is perfect for hiking providing all the performance you would expect from a great hiking sock. A snug fit and a soft, smooth feel are immediately noticed when you first slip your foot into the socks.

After a couple of miles on the trail you'll really appreciate the moisture wicking properties of Alpacor. And when you return home your significant other will appreciate the fact that alpacor is naturally odor free. That's right, Alpacas don't stink, or at least their fiber doesn't stink.

The fit of the Ausangate Medium Weight Ribbed Socks will hit you about mid calf if sized properly. This makes them perfect for more than just hiking, like wearing with jeans or slacks to the office. Anyone who has ever wore nice socks know that high performance socks aren't just for the trail. A solid pair of socks can make any horrible day at work a little bit better. Especially if you spend any time on your feet.

At $19.99 this is a great sock that you're sure to love. For more information and to pick up a pair of your own Ausangate Medium Weight Ribbed Socks check out their website.
